Example: test stand for actuators

The picture shows a 3D CAD view of a test stand. Within the stand an actuator (for a landing flaps drive system) acts against a combination of springs, which duplicate the magnitude and profile of the aerodynamic loads acting on the actuator. The actuation travel is 400 mm (15.7 in) and the ultimate load is 4 kN (900 lbf). The motion of the actuator (red) is tracked by a potentiometer (brown). Also the test stand has a load cell which monitors the actual load. Additional sensors measure the current and the voltage at the drive motor and micro-switches which protect the end stops.

The test stand is ideally suited to demonstrate key data during certification process (performance, reliability) as well as for the individual assessment of every actuator after the assembly.
